چکیده

This work proposes a scheme for completely treating heavy metal laboratory waste liquid. Ten common heavy metals and various anions were dopted to synthesize the simulated laboratory waste liquid. Experimental results demonstrated that although conventional ferrite process (FP) ould not be used to treat the simulated waste liquid completely, the enhanced FP, i.e., the extended reaction ferrite process (ERFP), could be used o satisfy regulatory limits. FeSO4 can be added in the extended stage of ERFP intermittently rather than continuously. Elutriation was conducted o reduce the cost of ERFP and ensure that the sludge met toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP) standards. The pH of the elutriation iquid should be greater than 2.88. This work also establishes that FP or ERFP can be applied directly to treat dichromate and permanganate without prior reduction step. 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Biosorption of Pb(II) and Co(II) on Red Rose Waste Biomass

In the present investigation the biosorption potential of rosa gruss an teplitz (Red Rose) Waste Biomass (RRWB) for the removal of Pb(II) and Co(II) from aqueous solutions was studied. The effect of different process parameters such as pH, biosorbent dose, biosorbent size, temperature, contact time, initial metal concentration and pretreatments on the biosorption capacity of this waste biom...

Heavy Metal Pollution from Dental Clinics–Part 1:Annual Emissions Assessment

This study aimed to evaluate the concentration of heavy metals in liquid effluents and to quantify the mercury content in dental amalgam waste generated by dental clinics. Three neighbouring cities in Northeast Algeria were considered in this study (Constantine, Skikda, and Annaba). Heavy metals, such as Hg, Cu, Zn, Fe, Ni, Mn, Cr, Cd, and Pb, were analysed in wastewater and then compared with ...

Treatment of complex heavy metal wastewater using a multi-staged ferrite process.

Complete removal of heavy metal from complex heavy-metal wastewater (CHMW) requires advanced technology. This study investigated the feasibility of a multi-staged ferrite process (MSFP) for treating CHMW, containing Cd, Cu, Pb, Cr, Zn, Ag, Hg, Ni, Sn and Mn. Our experimental results showed that most of the supernatants after conventional single-step ferrite process could conform to the effluent...
